Everton have agreed a £20 million fee with Arsenal for Theo Walcott, who is due to undergo a medical on Merseyside, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Everton and Southampton were battling for Walcott's signature during this month's transfer window, but the Goodison Park side have moved quickly to meet Arsenal's asking price.

Walcott has found his first-team opportunities at Arsenal limited this season, making just four Premier League appearances as most of his outings have come in cup competitions.

The 28-year-old is frustrated at finding himself on the fringes of Arsene Wenger's plans at the Emirates and Wenger understands his position and has agreed to let him move on.

Walcott is in the final 18 months of his contract at Arsenal and the club have decided to cash in on him now so that they can use the funds to strengthen the squad elsewhere.

Everton are in the market for forward reinforcements this month as Sam Allardyce, a long-term admirer of Walcott, looks to add more goals to his side.

The Toffees have failed to win of their last five Premier League games, scoring just one goal, and Allardyce hopes Walcott can help solve their scoring issues.

Should Walcott come through his medical without any problems, he will become Everton's second signing of the month following the arrival of Turkey international Cenk Tosun from Besiktas.

Walcott started his career at Southampton before joining Arsenal as a teenager in 2006 and has scored 108 goals in 397 appearances for Arsenal.
