Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey was handed a starting role as Atletico Madrid beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the International Champions Cup in Melbourne.

Partey lasted 74 minutes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and was replaced by Amath.

A lonely goal from Diego Godin on 40 minutes divided the two sides.

Atletico’s next match will be on Sunday against Melbourne Victory.
