Three South African giants chase Ghanaian defender Awal Mohammed

Three South African giants are scrambling for the signature Maritzburg defender Awal Mohammed, the South African media have reported.

Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are believed to be in a tussle to land the strong centre-back who has made a solid start to his Maritzburg career.

The three clubs are ready to splash thousands of dollars to lure the player who joined Maritzburg from Ghanaian champions Asante Kotoko at the start of the season.

Maritzburg United coach Erns Middendorp is resisting any attempt to sell the player as he has become an integral member of his squad.

United are second on the Absa Premier League table and host second-placed Orlando Pirates on Friday at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth.
