Medeama coach Tom Strand insists his side deserved victory following their 1-0 win over Ashantigold to lift the 2016 Ghana Super Cup on Sunday.

The Mauve and Yellows added another silveware to their fast-increasing trophy cabinet with a well-deserved victory infront of a sparse crowd at the Accra sports stadium.

The FA Cup holders enjoyed the chunk of possession and dictated the tempo of the game from the start to finish.

New signing Bernard Ofori scored what proved the match winner with a fabolous strike with three minutes remaining on the clock.

And coach Tom Strand insists his side deserved victory against the Premier League champions.

"Of course we deserved victory. I don't think we were at our best but we still managed to win," he said

"A good team is the one which wins even if it plays badly.

"We showed character and fighting spirit and the goal was always going to come at some point.

"There are areas we must look at going forward but I am happy at the moment."

This is the second major trophy for the CAF Confederation Cup campaigners in six months after they clinched the 2015 FA Cup at the expense of Kotoko.
