Tom Strand claims he rejected mouth-watering offers from his native Sweden to take up the coaching job at Bechem United.

The 32-year-old recently signed a two-year deal to manage the Ghana Premier League side.

He replaced Serbian Miroslav Bogdanovich who quit the side to join fellow Premier League side Aduana Stars.

Strand told Accra-based Radio XYZ that he turned down juicy offers from his native country to sign for the ambitious Ghanaian side.

“I have been to Ghana before but this time around it was on a different mission” he said. “Before my appointment at Bechem I had a number of offers in my home country but I decided to come to Ghana just to accomplish a long cherished dream.

“My personal ambition is first of all test myself and prove myself as a Coach in these difficult conditions in Africa. “Now I have a chance to prove a point with this club.

“I was offered a job in Sweden as well but I felt that this was a bigger challenge for me so I took it in order to toughen up as a Coach and as a personality.”

He will be in charge when United as host of King Faisal on the resumption of the Ghanaian top-tier on February 9.
