Tom Strand claims he rejected mouth-watering offers from his native Sweden to take up the coaching job at Bechem United.
The 32-year-old recently signed a two-year deal to manage the Ghana Premier League side.
He replaced Serbian Miroslav Bogdanovich who quit the side to join fellow Premier League side Aduana Stars.
Strand told Accra-based Radio XYZ that he turned down juicy offers from his native country to sign for the ambitious Ghanaian side.
ââ¬ÅI have been to Ghana before but this time around it was on a different missionâ⬠he said. ââ¬ÅBefore my appointment at Bechem I had a number of offers in my home country but I decided to come to Ghana just to accomplish a long cherished dream.
ââ¬ÅMy personal ambition is first of all test myself and prove myself as a Coach in these difficult conditions in Africa. ââ¬ÅNow I have a chance to prove a point with this club.
ââ¬ÅI was offered a job in Sweden as well but I felt that this was a bigger challenge for me so I took it in order to toughen up as a Coach and as a personality.ââ¬
He will be in charge when United as host of King Faisal on the resumption of the Ghanaian top-tier on February 9.
