Ghana legend Anthony Yeboah has tipped Andre Ayew to overcome his injury challenges to become a hit for West Ham United in the forthcoming English Premier League.

Ayew, who joined the Hammers in a £20.5 million deal from Welsh side Swansea City last term, suffered an hamstring injury on his debut.

The Ghana deputy skipper returned after almost three months and managed to bag six goals in twelve appearances to help the side finish the campaign strongly.

And with the new season looming, the 51-year-old former Leeds United poacher has thrown his weight behind his compatriot to come good when the campaign kicks off.

"After your first season, everyone gets to know you more," he said. "You are no longer a surprise. Coaches know your strength, the opposing players read you better, they know what you do and what you don't so the second season tends to be more difficult," Yeboah told KweséESPN.

"But Andre has always proven he can deal with these things. He would be fired up to prove this season that he the first season was no fluke and how last season went was not exactly reflective of him."
