Ace French journalist Pierre Menes has heaped praise on Andre Ayew for possessing a ‘rare’ kind of loyalty to Marseille and fears his departure could spell doom for the Stade Velodrome side.

Ayew has spent most of his playing career at the club since he joined in 2005, leaving only to play for Lorient and Arles-Avignon on loan on two occasions.

He has been an important piece to the Marseille side over the past few years, pushing hard for the French giants to rediscover their status.

The future of the 24-year-old has been hugely speculated in Europe with many stellar clubs keen to lure him to their fold.

Renowned French journalist Pierre Menes has hailed the loyalty of the Ghanaian international and believes his potential departure from the Stade Velodrome will be sad.

“This is a guy who loves Marseille so much. I’m not sure there is any player who loves the club like that,” Menes told le10 Sports.

“His departure would be really a big loss. That’s why I was really sad when there was controversy in Marseille about him taking photograph with PSG players in a restaurant.

“If there is a good guy in this team who loves Marseille jersey, it’s him.”

The Les Phocéens commander is beginning to rediscover his fine form since returning from injury by being pivotal in recent matches.
