Michael Essien joined Real Madrid from Chelsea on a season long-loan

Ghanaian players have hailed Michael Essien’s move to Spanish champions Real Madrid.

Essien’s future at Chelsea was bleak after manager Roberto di Matteo showed on many occasions the midfield gem was not a preferred choice.

The 29-year-old was on the verge of getting rotten on the Chelsea bench until phone last Friday from Jose Mourinho whom he calls ‘daddy’ convinced him.

Essien’s partner in the Ghana midfield Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu posted on his official Twitter page: “Confirmed! Essien joins real madrid. Happy for uBro. God is Good.”

Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong who idolises Essien also tweeted: “Essien gone to real Madrid Good luck bro.”

New Edubiase midfielder Asiedu Attobrah on his official twitter page ?@AsieduAttobrah wrote: “Am happy 4 my boss Essien on His move to madrid,May God help Him coz Ghana need His qualities.”
