Tottenham are close to settling on a new deal with Toby Alderweireld.
The Daily Mail says he is close to sealing a new contract with Tottenham – with the deal also dropping his £25million release clause.
The Belgian's current clause can be triggered by rival clubs in 2019, if Spurs take the option of extending his deal until the next year.
Now Spurs are keen to eradicate the clause altogether with a fresh five-year deal for the versatile defender.
Alderweireld, 27, – who moved to White Hart Lane from Atletico Madrid in 2015 – would also earn £75,000-a-week.
