English side Tottenham have reportedly joined the race to sign Ghanaian midfielder Godfred Donsah, who is also an alleged target for English Premier League sides Manchester City and Arsenal.

According to the London Evening Standard, Arsenal will compete with London rivals Tottenham for the signature of Cagliari midfielder Godfred Donsah.

The transfer window may not be open until the end of the season, but speculation is already mounting as both North London sides bid for Champions League football.

Both clubs landed young midfielders in the January transfer window, with Polish teenager Krystian Bielik heading to Arsenal, before MK Dons wonderkid Dele Alli chose to sign for Tottenham before being loaned back to Milton Keynes.

Despite that, both clubs are being linked with moves to sign Cagliari's teenage sensation Godfred Donsah this summer after a string of fine performances in Italy.

Donsah, 18, is one of the rising teenagers in Serie A right now, impressing with his athleticism in the Cagliari midfield so far this season.

The former Palermo youngster has also been linked with Manchester City in recent days, but the London Evening Standard suggest that Arsenal are set to battle with Tottenham for his signature.

However, with no appearances for Ghana, obtaining a work permit for his services could be difficult - unless a team pays £10m to bring him to England, which could be excessive for such an inexperienced player.

Donsah's performances from now until the end of the season could be the determining factor in whether a team is willing to pay that much - and he looks to have the physical attributes to play in the Premier League; so should Arsenal or Tottenham take the gamble?
