Tottenham set for shock Asamoah Gyan swoop

English side Tottenham are weighing up a shock summer swoop for Ghana's powerful striker Asamoah Gyan, Ghanasoccernet.com can reveal.

Ghanasoccernet.com investigations have revealed that initial talks are underway for Spurs to buy the player from Sunderland.

Tottenham coach Harry Redknapp has made Gyan his first target as he seeks to boost his squad for next season.

Sources close to the player have told GHANAsoccernet.com that the powerful and bubbly Ghanaian attacker knows of the interest from Spurs.

Even though no official offer has been slapped in by Tottenham, agents involved in the deal have been alerted by Redknapp's interest.

The investigations have revealed that the starting price for the negotiation will be £20 which could rise up to £30.

A cash-plus-player could be put on the table by Spurs with Peter Crouch or Roman Pavlyuchenko going the opposite direction.

Those closely involved in the deal say Tottenham will make an official bid when the season ends next month.

Despite the interest from Tottenham, Sunderland will be keen keeping Gyan for next season as Danny Welbeck is likely to return to Manchester United.

Even though Gyan has scored 11 goals in 30 matches since joining Sunderland from Rennes, he has struggled to receive support upfront after Darren Bent's departure.

He has mainly operated as a lone striker but with Jermaine Defoe, Tom Huddlestone, Aaron Lennon and Jermaine Jenas all available Gyan will get the needed support.
