Tough Algerian referee Djamel Haimoudi named for Ghana-Zambia clash

Tough Algerian referee Haimoudi Djamel will take charge of the Ghana-Zambia game

Tough Algerian referee Haimoudi Djamel has been named for September 2014 World Cup qualifying decider between Ghana and Zambia in Kumasi.

The 42-year old, rated the finest referee on the continent, will direct affairs from the middle for the ultimate Group D encounter billed for Friday, September 6 at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi.

FIFA indicates Djamel, who speaks fluent English, French in addition to his mother tongue Arabic, will lead a team of Algerian and Moroccan match officials for the encounter.

The selection of the Algerian is a testimony of the importance FIFA attaches to the day six clash, which will give birth to the group’s representative for the final stage of the qualifying series.

Djamel’s last major assignment was at the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil last month, where he officiated the third place match between Italy and Uruguay.

He also handled the final match at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa earlier in the year.

Interestingly, he was the same man at the middle when Ghana beat Congo 3-1 in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, also played on a Friday, November 6, 2011 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

He will be assisted by compatriot Abdelhak Etchiali and Moroccan Achik Redoaune. Algerian Mohamed Bichari will act as the fourth official.

Kenyan Nicholas Musonye, who doubles as Secretary General of the Council for Central and East Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has been appointed Match Commissioner and Mohamed Bahou, also from Morocco as Referees Assessor.

The Stars need at least a draw against the Chipolopolo to book a place at the next round the qualifying series.

The count down is on. This is one in a lifetime opportunity to silence these noise-making Zombies once and for all. Even a draw won't satisfy me. I demand total massacre,Lesotho style.

Thats y i give fifa a lot of respect. They know how tough this game wil be. By appointing the algerian ref fifa wants the game to be played in all fairness. No west african in the match officials, fifa u rock. For sure it wil be a fair game. The only time our team wil get unfair treatment is off the pitch coz we already know how u ghanains wil treat [email protected] whether with 24 million spears zambia wil leave ghana in one piece. This is a fifa match not a caf match. I thank u

I don't think you understand "brother" you have two options. Lose by 3 or lose by 5! You are not winning in my country!!! This is especially true since you should already be out if it was not due to corruption. The one thing Ghanaman hates is corruption!!!!! If you had any dignity you would not show up to try to steal what you clearly could not earn. :)

Bravo FIFA thank you. Ghanains fans treat our chipolopolo stars well in Kumasi. Your Black stars in Ndola had full secury protectionand escort from Airport to hotel then Stadia vis versa, the protection which our president dont receive and i guess not even your president. Besides, we the fans will carry cameras, inshort will be freelance journalists. FIFA knows what is at stake, thats why they have decided to give the match to best officials. Beat us fairly or we beat you fairly. See you in Kumasi [email protected] ghanaman be a man and i hope your children will not turn out to be like you.

@ghanaman. U are one zealous committed black stars fan, thats y u easiy get emotional and respond the way u do. Bro u nid to learn how to absorb negative comments abt ghana and respond in a good manner. Both zambia and naija wil not sit bak and do nothn wen their beloved teams are bein insulted. They wil respond to counter attack. And also am not sayn it wil be an altright win for zambia 'but if'.
