TP Mazembe snap up Berekum Chelsea duo

Published on: 05 December 2012

Berekum Chelsea have agreed to sell Richard Kissi Boateng and Solomon Asante to TP Mazembe, GHANAsoccernet.com  can exclusively reveal.

The duo impressed in Chelsea’s maiden campaign in the CAF Champions League where they caught the eye of Mazembe President Moise Katumbi.

The DR Congo giants have thus moved quickly to secure the services of the right back and the winger respectively after the 2013 African Cup of Nations in January.

The duo’s arrival in Mazembe will bring the number of Ghanaian players at the club to four following the earlier acquisition of Gladson Awako and Daniel Nii Adjei.

Amounts involved in the transaction remain concealed but the duo will receive improved wages and other financial benefits upon their arrival.

Boateng earned his maiden call to the Ghana national team on the back of his explosive displays for Chelsea particularly in the Champions League.

Asante on the other hand has had to dump a trial with English club Stoke City in favour of the move to TP Mazembe.

The duo have already signed pre-contract agreements with Mazembe and are expected in Lubumbashi in January.
