Bulgarian giants Levski Sofia have tabled an offer to sign German-born Ghanaian defender Marcel Appiah who is a free agent, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

Levski need Appiah's 1.89 m height in their defensive set up for the coming season's campaign and have officially made a proposal to the 27-year-old who is on holiday at Curaçao - where he grew up.

Appiah, born to a Ghanaian father and a German mother, helped NEC Nijmegen to secure straight promotion to the Dutch Eredivisie last season with 27 appearances and two assists.

The versatile defender, who played at Arminia Bielefeld before switching to Nijmegen would want to weight and consider other offers before announcing a decision.

Levski suffered a financial crisis last season, causing most of their best players to leave the club after the end of the season.

That factor is also drawing Appiah away from agreeing to the deal offered by Levski.
