Transfer News: Hearts on red-alert as AshGold decides not to re-sign striker Yakubu Mohammed
Hearts of Oak will sign striker Yakubu Mohammed

Accra Hearts of Oak will move quickly to begin talks with free agent Yakubu Mohammed as AshGold have decided not engage the striker for a new contract.

Hearts came close to signing the powerful center-forward before his move to South African Premier Soccer League side Maritzburg United but now have a chance to land him.

Yakubu scored just once in 13 league appearances for Maritzburg and the club have decided not to hand him a new deal.

Hearts feel the current strikers at the club do not have the gravitas to carry them through for next season and are preparing to offload duo Gilbert Fiamenyo and Selasi Adjei to make space for Yakubu who raked in 12 goals for AshGold before joining United two seasons ago.
