Transfer Talk: Mou row sparks Shaw exit

Published on: 19 March 2018

Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window, and Transfer Talk has the updates on all the latest rumours.

Shaw heading for Man United exit

Luke Shaw's days at Manchester United are numbered following the heavy criticism he received from Jose Mourinho on Saturday, according to multiple reports.

The left-back was taken off at half-time in United's FA Cup victory over Brighton, with Mourinho choosing to single him out for criticism after the game.

The BBC reported that Shaw was upset by the critique, and his representatives furious that Mourinho aired his complaints publicly, after the manager also questioned the left-back's commitment last year. Other United players also believe that Mourinho's treatment of Shaw qualifies as bullying, according to the Telegraph.

The Sun reported that the pair had been involved in a heated meeting in the build-up to Saturday's FA Cup tie. With Shaw seeking assurances over his future after being left out of the squad that lost to Sevilla, Mourinho reportedly "flew off the handle at him in an extraordinary outburst." The 22-year-old was then told he would play against Brighton with a view to generating interest ahead of being sold in the summer.

The Times reported that Shaw will now look to leave this summer with one year left on his deal, and according to the Star he will not be short of suitors, with Chelsea, Tottenham, Leicester and Southampton all monitoring developments at Old Trafford.

Raiola key to Pogba future

Along with Shaw, there are still doubts over Paul Pogba's long-term future at Manchester United following persistent talk of unrest between the midfielder and his manager.

According to the Mirror, Pogba's agent Mino Raiola has been "sounding out potential buyers for the 25-year-old" following a campaign characterised by conflict.

Mourinho will want to avoid any further disputes at this precarious point in United's season, with Raiola wanting Pogba to be awarded the same wages as Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford.

Despite the ongoing debate regarding the France international's best position, the paper claims Mourinho still has "a good working relationship" with his player.

Lewandowski agrees Real Madrid move

Robert Lewandowski is closing in on a transfer to Real Madrid after his new agent Pini Zahavi thrashed out terms with the Spanish giants.

It has been widely reported that the striker is eyeing a move from Bayern Munich in the summer, hiring Zahavi to head up negotiations.

And Mundo Deportivo now claims that talks with José Angel Sánchez, Florentino Perez's second in command at Real Madrid, have resulted in a basic agreement over a two-year deal with the option of a third season.

Zahavi is also believed to have hawked his client to Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Chelsea, but Madrid remain in pole position and will now speak to Bayern to settle a fee.

Draxler to Liverpool?

Jurgen Klopp may have found his ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho, with the Express reporting that Julian Draxler could be Anfield-bound at the end of the season.

Draxler only joined PSG 14 months ago, but the Germany international has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot this season, putting his World Cup hopes in danger.

Liverpool will offer the 24-year-old an escape route from the Parc des Princes, as Klopp remains a huge fan of his talent after seeing him develop in the Bundesliga at Schalke and then Wolfsburg.

Draxler signed a four-and-a-half year deal with PSG when he signed for the Ligue 1 leaders in a £35 million switch in January 2017.

Tap-ins

- Ashley Young has been rewarded for his contribution at Manchester United this season with a one-year contract extension, according to the Mail.

The 32-year-old, who looks set to make England's World Cup squad, will now stay at Old Trafford until 2019 with the possibility of an even longer deal still on the table.

- Celtic and Stoke are targeting Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn, who has impressed on loan at Norwich this season. The Sun reports that the 22-year-old could head to Stoke if Jack Butland leaves for Liverpool.

- The Sun also says that Burnley will double Nick Pope's wages in a bid to stave off interest from Newcastle. The former Charlton keeper received his first England call-up for the forthcoming friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy.
