AshGold captain Daniel Asamoah has confirmed he is on his way out of the Miners after a thirteen season spell.

The experienced 29-year-old was unable to secure enough playing time under new coach Bashir Hayford and claims he decided to seek his future elsewhere.

"I approached them [AshGold management] and told them I want to leave and they accepted," he told Accra-based Oman FM.

The powerful midfielder was influential at the Obuase-based club during the reign of David Duncan but fell down the pecking order and faced suspension and demotion under former coach Yaw Acheampong.

AshGold have also confirmed his departure but reveals he was released.

"He [Daniel Asamoah] has served the club for years and is a senior player. We didn't like the case where he was being bench for the young lads so we agreed to pay him off for the rest of his contract," AshGold Communications Head Kofi Yawson told Oman FM.

Asamoah has a year left on his current contract with the Miners.
