Ghanaian champions Asante Kotoko could fail in their bid to sign former Ghana U20 attacking midfielder Kennedy Ashia from fellow Ghana Premier League side Liberty Professionals, according to reports in the local media.

The former AshGold Academy graduate has been on the radar of the Porcupine Warriors for a couple of seasons and looked close to making a permanent switch after returning from a half-season loan spell with Norwegian side FK Brann.

However talks between Kotoko and Liberty have reportedly broken down over transfer fee and the player is likely to feature for the Scientific Soccer Lads or head to Europe.

Ashia bagged over ten goals for Liberty in the 2013 season and earned a place in the Ghana U20 squad that won bronze at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey last season.

After returning from Norway in the second-half of the Ghanaian season, his scoring form impressed Kotoko and they re-ignited talks to sign him but talks have broken down and the deal is likely to be called off.
