Scottish giants Celtic are in pole position to land Ghana's Christian Atsu on a season-long deal from English giants Chelsea, GHANAsoccernet.com has learnt.

The Blues have left their loan returnee out of their pre-season squad and numerous clubs have been put on red alert with English Premier League pair of Aston Villa and Everton extremely interested.

However, GHANAsoccernet.com checks can confirm the former FC Porto winger would favour a move to Celtic as they would offer him the platform to showcase his talent in the UEFA Champions League and win regular playing time.

Celtic, whose interest in the player soared during the 2014 World Cup, have already made contacts at Chelsea and are hoping to seal a deal for him by next week.

Atsu, Vitesse Arnhem's Fans Player of the Year, returned to Chelsea after few weeks of playing for Ghana in Brazil but manager Jose Mourinho left him out of his squad for the pre-season regarding the flurry of talented wingers available.

SkySports claim Everton and Aston Villa have not given up on the chase on the Ghanaian and will fight to secure him until the last minute.
