Goalkeeper Daniel Agyei has revealed traveling Ghanaian players are ââ¬Ëlaughed atââ¬â¢ in their pursuit for better remuneration.
Quality in the domestic leagues keep eroding due to the alarming rate of player exodus.
The players are always in the haste to travel abroad primarily to earn better wages to improve on their livelihood.
Only a few are lucky to land good clubs in Europe while the majority find themselves plying their trade in countries not noted for their football just to earn a decent living.
Goalkeeper Daniel Agyei who has returned to Liberty Professionals after a failed stint in South Africa with Free State Stars says Ghanaian players are mocked at on their travels abroad in search of ââ¬Ëmoneyââ¬â¢.
ââ¬ÅThey always laugh at us that we canââ¬â¢t stay in our country but rather traveling to come and look for money,ââ¬Ã the 2009 U20 World Cup winner told Sportscrusader.
ââ¬ÅBut the truth also is that we donââ¬â¢t earn that much in Ghana so we have to travel.
ââ¬ÅIf I had stayed in Ghana, I donââ¬â¢t think I would have been able to get certain things for myself and my family.
ââ¬ÅBut then, we are always laughed at and it is something weââ¬â¢ve had to live with.ââ¬
