TRIBAL TRENDS - TRANSFERS: Mourinho to spend £1b?; Alexis makes Arsenal call; Chelsea pair to Man Utd?

Published on: 24 February 2017

With the amount of rumours swirling around at this time of year, even after the winter transfer window, it is sometimes difficult to decipher the truth.

These are matters of importance.

With all the transfer talk now directed at the all-important summer market, there are enormous amounts of speculation swirling around Europe and the UK.

Not to worry however, because here at Tribalfootball, we have broken down the week's hottest transfer rumours, and inform you whether you should believe the paper talk or not.

Here are our top five trending transfer stories for the past week:

Manchester United
Players interested in: Antoine Griezmann, Victor Lindelof, Tiemoué Bakayoko

The Sun claims that Jose Mourinho is planning to spend a measly £1billion over the next 5 years!

Forecasting how much money one manager will spend over a five-year period is madness in this day and age.

I would be more worried about Mou staying at Old Trafford for that amount of time.

Just look at Claudio Ranieri.

Antoine Griezmann remains firmly situated in the United transfer rumours, and could easily end up in Manchester, while the Victor Lindelof talk has been dragging on for months.

The one they may struggle with is Tiemoué Bakayoko who told Le Parisien this week: “I will not refuse a move to PSG."

The 22-year-old seems fairly settled at Monaco and I doubt he will depart for United anytime soon.

And as for the amount of Mou is gonna splash, well your guess is as good as mine…

Likelihood: Griezmann & Lindelolf? Yes. £1billion? Well…good luck if you've got it!

Alexis Sanchez - Arsenal
Clubs interested: Real Madrid, Juventus, PSG, AC Milan

Alexis has made his call.

That is according to Mirror journo John Cross who says the Chilean's 'mind is made up'.

There is no shortage of interest in Alexis but the two clubs who appear the most likely to pounce are Juventus and PSG.

Real Madrid have been linked with a potential swap-deal involving Alvaro Morata but Don Balon's report seems slightly ambitious.

AC Milan are also in the running but would Alexis choose them over the others that are keen?

The noises out of the Emirates are that he is ready to leave North London.

But where to?

Likelihood: Fairly strong. The destination is the burning question!

Alvaro Morata - Real Madrid
Eden Hazard - Chelsea
Clubs interested: Chelsea and Real Madrid

Spanish giants Real are that keen on Eden Hazard they are ready to throw things at him, including a bank!

Real are reportedly determined to land the Belgian this summer and will offer truckloads of cash plus a pretty handy player thrown into the mix in Morata.

Hazard loves Zidane. Zidane loves Hazard. Florentino loves Hazard.

Morata to Chelsea won't go away, and nor should it.

Antonio Conte wants him and with Real wanting Eden, this could be a chance.

BUT?!

If Chelsea were to win the title, what would it mean for Hazard? Would he feel like he's accomplished what he's needed to in England?

Or will he stay and become a Stamford Bridge legend?

Likelihood: This one too tough to call. Wait til the summer.

Philippe Coutinho - Liverpool
Clubs intersted: Barcelona

Liverpool owner John W Henry was at the Nou Camp on the weekend.

Sport says the American was there to chat with Barça chiefs about Philippe Coutinho.

I can see why Reds fans are worried, but I doubt Henry was in Catalonia to discuss the sale of Coutinho.

That's just not how he operates.

But does it reek of something fishy? Or is it simply business as usual?

Liverpool recently tied down Phil to a lucrative, long-term deal but that doesn't mean much anymore.

It wouldn't be the first time the Merseysiders have done something like this - think Luis Suarez.

However, I just can't see Coutinho leaving Kloppo…yet.

Likelihood: It's a possibility, but perhaps Henry was there to talk Neymar? ;)

Willian and Nemanja Matic - Chelsea
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - Arsenal
Clubs interested: Manchester United

Mourinho wants Chelsea duo Willian and Nemanja Matic with him at Old Trafford.

We've heard it for months.

The Mirror thinks the Portuguese will raid his old club for the pair.

You can see both of these players reuniting with Mou at the Theatre of Dreams but whether Chelsea will sell two key players to a direct rival is highly unlikely.

As for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, he would want to get a regular game at Arsenal before moving on to a club just as competitive for spots.

Likelihood: One of the two Chelsea boys to go. I'd pick Willian. Matic and Ox to stay in London.
