Tunisia pull out of Egypt friendly, Ghana match to go ahead

Tunisia insist they will honour their pre-African Cup of Nations friendly match against Ghana after pulling the plug on the game against Egypt.

The Carthage Eagles lined a series of matches to prepare their squad for next month's tournament in South Africa.

The country's federation has sprung a surprise by revealing that they have cancelled their match with their north African rivals which was scheduled for 7 January.

But the Tunisians say their match against Ghana in Abu Dhabi on 13 January will go ahead as originally planned.

Pulling out of the friendly against Ghana could have seriously affected Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah's plans for the tournament in South Africa.

Also getting last minute replacements could have been a problem for the Ghana FA.

However the Tunisians say their friendlies against Iraq, Gabon and Ghana will still be played in the Emirates before the Carthage Eagles travel to South Africa.

Tunisia are in Group D, along with Algeria, Cote d'Ivoire and Togo.

Ghana will play in Group B along with DR Congo, Mali and Niger.
