Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko has dismissed media reports that he was neglected by the Ghana FA after suffering an ankle injury in the Black Stars pre-World Cup friendly against Holland.

The former Heart of Lions center-back says team officials were in constant contact with him even when the team moved to Brazil, contrary to earlier reports that he was left to his fate after the heartbreaking injury.

The Eskisehirspor star was ruled out of action for three months after he picked up an ankle injury on May 31st in Feyenoord.

“It is not true that I ever said they (Black Stars officials) don’t check up on me. Even the assistant coach (of the Black Stars) Maxwell Konadu called me (on phone) today. I am making progress in my recovery and that’s what matters,” Akaminko told Campionesport.

Akaminko is epected to make full revery in six weeks time but the defender says he has already started running and kicking and might return to active football earlier than expected.
