U20 WWC QUALIFIER: Black Princesses to host Ethiopia in Kumasi on Sunday

Published on: 04 November 2015

Ghana’s Under-20 female soccer team, the Black Princesses, will host their Ethiopian counterparts in the return leg of their 2016 FIFA Women’s World Cup (WWC) qualifier at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

Ghana earned a vital away point in the first leg of the encounter when they settled for a 2-2 draw with their Ethiopian counterparts in Addis Ababa, a week ago.

The hosts gifted Ghana the opener in the 5th minute through an own goal scored by Hassabi Muso in the 5th minute, before Loza Abera snatched the equalizer for Ethiopia in the 16 minute.

Abera went onto the score sheet again in the 22th minute to put Ethiopia in the lead this time around.

But back from recess Coach Mas-ud Didi Dramani’s charges put up a rare fight to get the equalizer through Kate Adu Agyemang in the 80th minute.

The Princesses are hoping to build on their 2-2 draw result in the first leg in Addis Ababa over a week ago to book their third successive ticket to the tournament to be hosted by Papua New Guinea next year.

The team will leave for Kumasi today to finalize their preparations, mindful of the formidable challenge the Ethiopians pose.
