Ghanaian players in the UEFA Europa league enjoyed mixed results with Sion’s Ebenezer Assifuah one of the few to record a victory on the night.

Ebenezer Assifuah started and lasted 68 minutes as his Sion side raced to a 2-1 victory over Russian side Rubin Kazan. Assifuah was instrumental in setting up the first goal for his side and would be glad with his contribution.

Ghanaian youngster Abdul Aziz Tetteh who joined Lech Poznan this summer from Greek side Platanias was an unused substitute but his side played out a 0-0 drawn game at home with Belenenses.

Daniel Opare was missing in action but his Augsburg side fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Spanish side Athletico Bilbao.

Spanish-born Ghanaian Inaki Williams was conspicuously missing from the Bilbao team that beat Augsburg.

Frank Acheanpong was introduced in the second half but his Anderlecht side were held to a 1-1 drawn game by French giants Monaco.

Dutch-born Ghanaian youth defender Derrick Luckassen warmed the bench for AZ Alkmaar but the Dutch side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Partizan Beograd, Isaac Sackey could not make the Alkmaar team.
