Ghana midfielder Michael has been named in Panathinakos’ squad for their Europa League clash against Azerbaijani side FK Qabala on August 20, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

The 32-year-old has not played for the side since he joined the Greek giants from AC Milan last month due to injury.

The Ghana international has not fully recovered from a groin injury and has been left out of their pre-season squad.

But the former Chelsea man may however be unavailable for the first leg tie on August 20 but will be fully fit for the return leg seven days later.

Essien will miss Thursday’s friendly against Real Sociedad but will resume training with the Greens on Thursday.
