Giants Hearts of Oak are struggling to hold onto midfielder Uriah Asante, GHANAsoccernet.com has learnt.
Asante’s one-year loan expires at the end of the current campaign and talks to make his stay permanent at the capital-based club have hit a snag.
Hearts difficulty in tying the player down has been compounded by an alleged frosty relationship between the player’s manager and the club over an unpaid $ 600,000 owed him.
The owner of second-tier side Pure Joy, which incidentally owes the economic right of the player, has fallen out with the club for their perceived failure to pay him the amount which has now accrued in excess of $1 million.
Isaac Tetteh, a former management member of the 2000 African Champions is believed to be reluctant to allow the player to join Hearts on a permanent basis.
The situation could alert a host of clubs including Hearts rivals Asante Kotoko who are believed to be keeping tabs on the youngster as coach Maxwell Konadu attempt to build a dreadful squad capable of winning next year’s Caf Champions League.
