United States coach Jurgen Klinsmann on Friday ran the rule over the Arena de Amazonia stadium in Manaus where his side will take on Portugal in their World Cup group meeting on June 22.

The past week has seen former German star and 1990 world champion Klinsmann lead a two-week training camp for the US squad in Sao Paulo and Friday saw him take time out with members of his technical staff to travel up to Manaus in the far north.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to get to know the stadium and for the hospitality of the people of Amazonia," Brazilian media reported Klinsmann as saying.

"My team is in Sao Paulo and I really wanted to get to know the Arena da Amazonia. It's a great opportunity to be here," said the former Stuttgart, Inter Milan, Tottenham and Bayern Munich striker.

Much has been made by sides, notably England, who will find themselves playing in Manaus' tropical climate.

But Klinsmann, who admitted ahead of December's draw that Manaus would pose a difficult challenge, said his team would meet the challenge head on as they look to get out of a group which also contains his native Germany and Ghana.

"We are used to changes in temperature. Our team plays in any climate and we are looking forward to playing in Manaus," he said.
