Van Gaal has taken the fun away with his Man Utd ‘cake bakers’

Former Holland international Willem van Hanegem has blasted Louis van Gaal's Manchester United.

The 1974 World Cup runner-up has taken a keen interest in United since van Gaal took the reins at Old Trafford in the summer of 2014 but admits he certainly does not enjoy watching the Red Devils who he feels are labouring under the tutelage of countryman van Gaal.

"PSV definitely got a good result against Manchester United (last week, 0-0) although we do not have to exaggerate," he told Dutch paper AD.

"Saturday (against Leicester) I again looked at Manchester and I see that team play and (they make) tears shoot from my eyes.

"If you can spend £300 million, then you do not buy such a bunch of cake bakers."

Despite the fact United sit third in the Premier League and are still alive in the Champions League, Van Hanegem added: "Van Gaal is a good trainer when his team get results because then everything is accepted. Look at Holland in the World Cup.

"Perhaps it (his football) does not matter to others, as long as it yields points. I do not think so. I am a lover (of football).

"Van Gaal takes the fun away from the people."
