Vfl Osnabruck defender Marcel Appiah admits his side were second best after their 3-0 defeat at Paderborn in tthe German lower side over the weekend.

The Ghanaian was part of the centre-back trio as they lost heavily at the Benteler Arena.

"You just have to acknowledge the strength of the SCP," said Marcel Appiah.

The 29-year-old joined the Liga 3 side on a free transfer last season after leaving Dutch side NEC Nijmegen where he made a total of 50 Eredivisie appearances in two seasons.

Appiah, born to a Ghanaian father and a German mother, started his career in Germany with Schalke 04 before leaving to join TSG Sprockhövel and SG Wattenscheid 09.
