Ghanaian defender Phil Ofosu-Ayeh expects his struggling VFR Aalen to pick the pieces after he scored the match winner in their 2-1 win over promotion-chasing Eintracht Braunschweig.
The 23-year-old bagged the crucial match winner for Aalen to keep their survival alive.
The soon-to-be Ghanaian international was left thrilled with his goal and feels the win will restore confidence in the team.
ââ¬ÅThis win is crucial for us and we hope to build on it,â⬠he told GHANAsoccernet.com
ââ¬ÅOf course Iââ¬â¢m delighted with my goal but the most important thing is for the team to win.
ââ¬ÅWe are anxious to avoid the drop and thatââ¬â¢s what weââ¬â¢re working on.ââ¬
Braunschweig got the breakthrough early in the second period when Mirko Boland rifled home from 20 yards out, but the lead didn't last.
There was a slice of luck involved in both Aalen's goals as Gikiewiczââ¬â¢s clearance cannoned into the net off Collin Quaner following a poor back pass from Reichel, before Phil Ofosu-Ayeh collected Saulo Decarliââ¬â¢s half clearance and slammed into the net from close range to complete the turnaround with 21 minutes still to play.
