Vice President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama visited the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra on Thursday to see at first hand facilities put in place by ex France captain Marcel Desailly.

H.E Mahama who was unable to do the official launch of the multi-purpose sports facility located in East Legon two-weeks ago was taking through a personal tour by Marcel Desailly himself and other managers of the facility.

The obviously impressed second gentleman of the Republic whose son incidentally uses the facility on a daily basis after school, commended Desailly for his foresight and urged others to invest in the direction of sports.

"The facility is very impressive, and I want to congratulate our brother Marcel (Desailly) for the vision he's had," H.E Mahama told the media after the tour.

"I am told there are even no spaces on the commercial floor and every weekend the pool is full of thousands of kids, it means the need is there and when you put in the facilities, it will be well utilised.

"Facilities like these are required since yesterday, but then they say better late than never and I hope other sports personalities will emulate him because Ghana is a country that abounds in sporting talents for which the government alone cannot provide infrastructure for."

The host, Marcel Desailly thanked the vice president for his presence at the complex and pledge to even do more in expanding his tentacles for the benefit of other areas in the country.

Mr. Mahama then proceeded to do a mock re-unveiling of the plaque and accepted an invitation by Desailly to use some of his facilities especially the swimming pool which the vice president admitted to be his favourite.
