Ghanaian midfielder Gershon Koffie says the championship triumph of Vancouver Whitecaps will motivate the side in their push to win the MLS.

The 24-year-old played an integral part in helping his Canadian club pick up their first silverware of the season on Wednesday with a 2-0 win over Montreal Impact.

Whitecaps are currently just a point behind the LA Galaxy in the Western Conference of the MLS but crucially with a game in hand.

Koffie however remains confident that his side are on the right track to clinching the MLS title and that their triumph in the Cup will serve as a further boost for their domestic league campaign.

“It feels really good to win titles,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“Everyone at the club wants to continue to feel this way and we will have to work very hard and hope it will be enough for us to win the league.”

Vancouver Whitecaps are all but certain to qualify to the playoffs where the MLS title is really won.
