Video: Ghanaian striker John Antwi fires Ismaili to semis of Arab Club Cup

Published on: 01 March 2013

Ghanaian striker John Antwi converted the final spot-kick as Ismaili beat Algeria's Chabab Belouizdad 4-1 on penalties to advance to the semi-final of the Arab Club Cup.

Antwi placed Ismaili's last kick into the top right with the Belouizdad goalkeeper completely beaten.

Both were tied 1-1 in the return leg match at Cairo's Air Defense Stadium and 2-2 on aggregate after the first leg also ended 1-1.

Midfielder Amr Al-Sulaya's 19th minute left-footed strike was cancelled out by a goal from Algeria striker Islam Slimani after the break.

But the Dervishes managed to march through the competition's quarter-finals with Ahmed Khairi, Al-Sulaya, Sameh Abdul-Fadil and John Antwi converting from the spot.

Islam Slimani got the visitors only goal from the penalty shootouts.

Ismaili will play against one of the three other semi-final contestants; Kuwait’s Al-Arabi, Algeria’s USM Alger and Morocco’s Raja Casablanca.
