Ghana international Michael Essien expressed himself with his debut goal for Panathinaikos as they posted a 2-0 win over Levadiakos in the Greek Super League on Sunday afternoon.
The 33-year-old Chelsea legend put the game to bed for the Greens with a superb finish in the 78th minute at the Levadia Stadium.
Essien had bossed the midfield with his still brimming energy had been involved in the sequence of play that ended in the opening goal scored by Marcus Berg in the 57th minute.
Panathinaikos continued their surge to kill off the bench and in the 78th minute an intriguing passing string from the right saw the former Real Madrid man raced unmarked into the Levadiakos box and hammer home a powerful drive.
A pass from the right was artfully laid to Essien by former Napoli midfielder Giandomenico Mesto and the Ghanaian punched it with a commanding effort that ricocheted off the bar before sailing in with the goalkeeper beaten.
