Ghana striker Richmond Boakye marked his Europe debut in style after netting a brace in Red Star Belgrade's 3-0 win over Maltese side Floriana.
The 24-year-old converted a penalty in the 45th minute to open the scoring.
After 78 minutes, Slavoljub Srni doubled the lead for the Serbian Super League runners-up.
Boakye popped up in the 89th minute to complete the drubbing at the Stadion Rajko MitiÄ - Belgrade.
Red Star Belgrade will travel to Malta for the second leg on 6 July as the winner will face Pavlodar or Dunav Ruse.
