Ruben Semedo faces accusations of assault, kidnap and robbery.

A judge in Valencia ruled on Thursday that Villarreal defender Ruben Semedo must be detained without bail pending trial.

Semedo faces charges of attempted murder, kidnap, robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The 23-year-old was arrested on Tuesday after a complaint was made against him by the alleged victim of an incident last week.

The Valencia High Court of Justice (TSJCV) said on Thursday: "Magistrate court number 6 in Lliria (Valencia) has ordered Villarreal player Ruben Semedo to be held without bail but with visiting rights.

"The judge has accused the Villarreal player of attempted murder, assault, kidnap, causing bodily harm, threats and unlawful possession of a firearm and robbery."

Villarreal have opened disciplinary proceedings against Semedo, who joined them from Sporting last summer but has been sidelined since thigh surgery in December.
