LIVERPOOL -- Theo Walcott says he consulted Wayne Rooney prior to his move to Everton.
Walcott ended his 12-year stay at Arsenal on Wednesday after completing a £20 million transfer to Goodison Park.
Speaking to the media at a news conference on Friday morning, Walcott said: "After speaking to the gaffer and Wayne, I felt the club was on the up and the manager gets the best out of the players.
"The future of the club, I want to be part of that. You can get a sense that it's a club that financially can attract big players.
"[Wayne] said all the golf courses are great! I've played a lot of football with Wayne and I just wanted to understand how the club worked.
"I just got a sense from Wayne that he was hungry and got the sense that the club wanted to push on."
