Waris backs 'natural leader' Andre Ayew to succeed as Black Stars stand-in captain
Abdul Majeed Waris says Andre Ayew can lead the Black Stars

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris is backing winger Andre Ayew to be successful as the stand-in captain of the Black Stars revealing that he has got the leadership qualities to lead the side.

The Marseille winger is highly tipped to be named as the captain of the Black Stars for Saturday's 2015 Africa Cup of Nations following the absence of substantive captain Asamoah Gyan.

While there has been intense speculation about who will be handed the captain's band, Waris says Ayew has got the qualities to lead the side if the authorities choose him.

“I don’t have any problem with who captain’s the team or not, we as players, will support Â anybody that the management chooses,” Waris said.

“We won’t have a problem with any of them, I’m just hoping for the best, but if Dede gets the armband, that is cool, he is a natural leader and we will all support him.”

Gyan's injury has created the need to another captain to be named for the matches against Uganda and Togo.
