Hearts of Oak board member Alhaji Brimah Akanbi says his side could have embarrassed Asante Kotoko in the semifinal of the FAB G6 Tournament if they had used their top players for the clash.

Hearts of Oak shared the spoils with the Reds at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday with a side dominated by new pkayers without six of their regular players.

Captain Robin Ghana, defender Inusah Musah, striker Cosmos Dauda and other players were all excluded from the tournament but Hearts won over Kotoko.

Despite that Asante Kotoko succumbed to the Phobians by 6-5 on penalties after a pulsating 1-1 draw in regulation time.

And Alhaji Akanbi who doubles as a management member says his side could have humiliated their bitterest rivals if they assembled their best materials for the game.

"Kotoko should thank their stars that the game went as far as they did because even when we’re missing six top players. Had the likes of Malik Akowuah, Bright Luqman, Robin Gnagne, Inusah Musah played, we could have humiliated them by a bigger score line," Alhaji Akanbi said in an interview after the game.

“They were no match for our boys at all because after all the hype about their rich vein of form before the game, they didn’t scare us.”

Hearts of Oak will meet Aduana Stars in the finals of the tournament on Sunday.
