West Brom captain Fletcher: Rondon big influence around club

Published on: 20 February 2017

West Brom captain Darren Fletcher has revealed the growing influence of Salomon Rondon around the club.

Rondon has now gone 10 games without scoring, his longest drought in a Baggies shirt.

But Fletcher reckons the Venezuelan has improved this season, and has grown into an important member of the dressing room.

“He's a great character," said the skipper to the Express & Star.

“Even at the beginning when he didn't speak English, his personality shone through. Now he's speaking a bit of English the lads have really taken to him.

“Him and (Claudio) Yacob are good fun, they're always dancing and singing, playing pranks.

“Rondon's been fantastic this season. Last season he was great but he really knows what the Premier League is about now.

“He's a real focal point and he leads the line brilliantly."
