West Ham to swoop for Black Stars John Mensah

Posted On Monday, 3rd September 2012

West Ham United could swoop for Ghana captain J Mensah

West Ham are poised to make a move for Ghana defender John Mensah, who is available on a free transfer.

Mensah ended his contract with Lyon during the summer and is keen to make a return to the Premier League after having a successful season on loan at Sunderland last year.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has already brought in 11 players during the last transfer window which included a spectacular move to sign Andy Carroll from Liverpool on loan.

But he is determined to strengthen his squad even more and knows he needs more cover at the back as he only has Winston Reid, James Tomkins and James Collins to choose from.

Mensah, 29, has a wealth of experience and is hoping to finalise his future over the international break.

Clubs are still able to sign free agents despite the transfer window closing on Friday night and West Ham hope they can strike a deal to take him over the international break.

I personally know this guy cuz i was living with his uncle in fadama in accra and always comes to visit and such a humble guy he is and very quiet too.. my only piece of advice to him is that he should rather be thinking of going to the arab world to rake in some petrodollars whiles he is still active and i ll even suggest he retired from international football and concentrate more on his club future.. he is at the twilight of his career and needs to think sharp and smart in terms of breaking the bank!!! Saudia, uae, china wldnt be bad destination….

  3. Fiifi, Berlin says:

For a footballer like Mensah, they just don’t give up like that! The man has a couple of more years to play at top football circles, as such i would also side with him to continue to reach higher- HE IS NOT FINISHED YET!!! I would suggest he invest some bit of time and money in one of the German top medical sports guru- Dr Müller.Wohlfahrt (Bayern Munich Sports Medical Guru)!!! I believe the investment would benefit both Ghana and John Mensah. In this respect, he can talk to Sammy Kuffour, Toy Yeboah, Tony Baffoe , Charles Ackonnor for their views on this. Once again the man is NOT finished yet! He has more to give to both club and Black Stars!!!
