West Ham youngster Reece Oxford cuts short Gladbach loan - sources

Reece Oxford has yet to make an appearance for Borussia Monchengladbach.

West Ham United's Reece Oxford will return to the club in December after cutting short a season-long loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, sources have told ESPN FC.

Oxford, 18, moved to the Bundesliga club in the summer in order to gain first-team experience.

But the England under-20 international, who can play in both defence and midfield, has yet to make an appearance for Monchengladbach, remaining on the bench for six successive league games.

Sources close to the player have told ESPN FC that Oxford, West Ham and Monchengladbach have agreed to terminate the loan deal, with the teenager returning to the London Stadium in December.

FIFA regulations mean he would be unable to play for West Ham until January, being eligible for Slaven Bilic's squad from Jan. 1.

Both Oxford and West Ham have grown frustrated by Monchengladbach's failure to give him an opportunity, with sources claiming the German club do not appear to need him.

Oxford will return to West Ham on Dec. 16, the date of his 19th birthday.
