Promising Medeama winger Richard Mpong will sign for Asante Kotoko next season if he fails to land a foreign contract.

The 21-year-old has being on the radar of the Premier League Champions for the past two years but have failed in their bid to lure him to the club.

But the Black Stars player who impressed heavily for the Mauves and Yellows has confirmed he will not play for the Tarkwa-based side next term with Kotoko likely to be his destination if a purported move abroad falls through.

“At the moment, there have been lot of offers from abroad and that has delayed my move to Kotoko,” Mpong told Konongo-based Virgin City Radio

“If I travel abroad, then I will be unable to play for the club. But if I do not seal a contract abroad, I will play for Kotoko.

“So like I said, if it doesn’t go through, I will definitely play for Kumasi Asante Kotoko,”

The meteoric rise of the right-winger saw him score on his Black Stars debut in the 1-1 draw against Chile in an international friendly at the PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Mpong was a member of the Ghana Under-17 team who finished fourth at the 2007 FIFA World Cup in Korea

He played a key role in the Ghana Under-23 side who won gold at the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique.
