The American become a favourite on the addictive game after making his MLS debut ten years ago at the age of 14

At the age of 14, Freddy Adu looked set for a successful career and was a fully-fledged 'wonderkid' on Football Manager.

10 years on, he finds himself on trial at Blackpool after unsuccessful spells in Brazil, Turkey and Greece.

Speaking to the Seasiders' YouTube channel, Adu talks about his legendary reputation on the highly-addictive game. He admits he is well aware of his status on the game and is continually inundated with messages from his doting fans.

The American joked: "I get a lot of tweets calling me a 'Football Manager legend' and I'm like 'I wish it was like that in real life!'

"But that's cool. I personally never played that but I have a lot of friends that did and they've told me about that."

Adu joined Blackpool on trial last month and is hoping to impress the club enough to earn a permanent deal.

After making his MLS debut for DC United in 2004, big things were expected, but he never fulfilled his early promise.
