The Black Stars will experience goal-line technology at the 2014 World Cup finals after FIFA confirmed it will be introduced in Brazil.

World football’s governing body will bring in GLT for the first time to support match officials in making decisions on borderline goal scenarios.

Last year, FIFA appointed GoalControl GmbH as the official provider for the 2014 tournament and now installation and testing has been set up in each of the 12 stadiums that will host games in Brazil.

A FIFA statement released today read: “Goal-line technology (GLT) is set to feature at the FIFA World Cupâ„¢ for the first time…

“As this process continues, FIFA is pleased to provide broadcasters with HD quality footage showing the GoalControl system installed at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador and the Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza as well as the testing process at the iconic Maracanã Stadium in Rio De Janeiro involving the FIFA-accredited test institute Labosport Ltd.”
