World Cup 2014: Cameroon to investigate match-fixing claims

Cameroon are to investigate claims that seven of their players were involved in match-fixing at the World Cup, the country's football federation Fecafoot said on Monday.

Fecafoot said it had instructed its ethics committee to probe allegations of what it described as "fraud" in their three games in Brazil, particularly a 4-0 loss to Croatia in Manaus.

"Recent allegations of fraud around Cameroon's three 2014 World Cup games, especially Cameroon v Croatia, as well as the existence of ‘seven bad apples [in our national team]’ do not reflect the values and principles promoted by our administration," Fecafoot said in a statement.

"We wish to inform the general public that, though not yet contacted by Fifa in regards to this affair, our administration has already instructed its Ethics Committee to further investigate these accusations.

"We are strongly committed to employ all means necessary to resolve this disruptive matter with the shortest delay," Fecafoot's interim president, Joseph Owona, said.

The allegations against Cameroon came from convicted fraudster Wilson Raj Perumal, who had accurately forecast the result and the fact a player would be sent off in a discussion with German magazine Der Spiegel.

Cameroon midfielder Alex Song was sent off before half-time for a needless elbow in the back of Croatia's Mario Mandzukic near the halfway line, leaving his side to battle with 10 men for the majority of the game.

The game was also marred by an incident near the end when Benoit Assou-Ekotto attempted to head-butt team-mate Benjamin Moukandjo.

Cameroon's federation subsequently launched an investigation into the incident but has yet to give any update on possible disciplinary action.

The latest controversy adds to a long list for African teams at the World Cup. Both Ghana and Nigeria, now out of the tournament, were embroiled in disputes over money in Brazil. Ghana had two players sent home, Sulley Muntari for hitting an official and Kevin-Prince Boateng for allegedly swearing at the coach.

Investigate Ivory Coast! Bribery was involved in their loss to Greece even when all they needed was a draw.. I was watching that game and I picked it out right from the start! so I relaxed and stopped following it with my heart and lo and behold the results panned out just like I was waiting for. Two Ivorian players were mercenaries and the referee was working together with those two Ivorian traitors. I don;t want to mention names but any soccer fan with an I.Q higher than an amphibian can pick those two players out easily, Just go watch that game again and you will see.

I said early that song fixed their match and am been vindicated! Song is a fraudster! Some Ghanaian players such as john boye, dauda and some of our technical crew members should be investigated ASAP because they fixed our match with USA and Portugal!! We better do it before FIFA punishes us!

Why did AA BENCHED ESSIEN, KPB, AFFUL when it was obvious opare was having a poor game? Why did he introduced these players late when he could have done it early? Why did john boye stood still like a robot when he cld have narrow the angle w.r.t brooks winner and Dempsey first goal? Why did DAUDA deliberately pushes the ball to ronaldo when it was obvious he could have easily grabbed it? We sold our match to the Americans and we ll be REWARDED WITH A FRIDENLY MATCH with the yanks in September! Mark it! With respect to the Portugal match, dome of our players were bribed and the main culprit is john boye, that useless lanky good for nothing so call defender! That guy is a big trickster and a fraud! He is money conscious and he togather with some players sold our match to Portugal! The own goal was deliberate and he wanted to score more goals but because he is a DUMB ASS he didn't know how to do it! He, Jonathan mensah and dauda planned togather for ronaldos goal! I know what am saying and I have been saying this for a long time! Our gov should start to probe these players and officials before FIFA finishes with their investigations and handle Ghana a lengthy ban! I said song fixed their match and it seems the Cameroonians has finally seen it too and I want to repeat that Ghana fixed their match with the USA and Portugal!! I know that some betting companies has employed the services of F.B.I, C.I.A and private investigates to probe these claims in group g and it ll be mind boggling! I have a video of these Ghanaian players who were secretly filmed by a private investigator and he send a small portion to me!! Most of these players ll be ban for life including the officials! So far, everything I have said over here as come to pass and this ll be a big shock! The cameroonians knew that everything is true and they want to come out clean! Wait and see!
