Africa will earn more qualification slots for the next Fifa Womens World Cup following the extension of teams from sixteen to twenty four.

The decision was made during a Fifa seminar in South Africa where Executive Committee Member Linean Addy and Technical Director Francis Oti-Akenteng represented Ghana.

Though the quota is yet to be determined, Africa’s current number of two looks likely to rise.

This means Ghana’s chance of making the finals is more brightened since the Black Queens failed to qualify for the last edition in Germany.

However, the emergence of teams like Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon and South Africa alongside perennial powerhouse Nigeria will provide stern opposition for the tournament scheduled to be hosted in Canada in 2015.
