Confusion reigns supreme as Ghana's World Cup commission starts work today
Commission of Inquiry being inaugurated.

Ghana's government-mooted World Cup Commission of Inquiry will start work today (Monday) but its status has been thrown into a state of confusion after FIFA's intervention.

The world governing body is opposed to the terms of reference of inquiry with the Swiss-based body warning that it could ban the country if it investigates the local federation.

Government had promised that it will change the terms if reference if FIFA is opposed to it but there is no indication that it has been done.

This means the Ghana FA's appearance is uncertain while government has been dithering since the FIFA warning letter arrived despite the promises by government that it would chance.

The inaugural sitting will be chaired by chairman by Appeal Court Judge Justice Senyo Dzamefe and supported his other members Kofi Anokye Owusu Darko and Moses Foh-Amoaning.

Personalities, who played roles in the Black Stars participation before, duration and after the tournament, will be summoned to testify before the commission.

“The meeting will be about the administrative set up of commission and then they will look into documents available to them. They will also decide on which people to invite,” a source close to the three-man body told www.Africanfootball.com

The commission will be operating under the powers of a High Court in accordance with Articles 278, 279 and 280 of the 1992 Constitution.

Ghana President John Dramani Mahama set up the Commission of Inquiry after the Black Stars suffered a first round elimination at the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals.

FIFA had in the past stopped other strong countries like France and Nigeria from carrying out similar probes.
